Instrument: Narrow Angle Camera (NAC) of the Mercury Dual Imaging System (MDIS)
Of Interest: Follow these simple instructions to explore Mercury in the Google Earth interface. The NAC base-map image used is the publically available high-resolution global Mercury map, created by members of the MESSENGER team and experts from the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS). Named features on Mercury are marked, with some general information about each feature, as available through the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature website. The locations of more than a hundred featured MESSENGER images that have appeared in this image gallery over the last three years are also identified on the globe of Mercury. |
