Of Interest: The large, unnamed crater in this image shares part of its wall with the younger, smaller (42 km/26 mi) unnamed crater that formed inside of it. The floor and rim of the smaller crater contains many hollows, which are difficult to make out in this high-incidence-angle image.

The MESSENGER spacecraft is the first ever to orbit the planet Mercury, and the spacecraft's seven scientific instruments and radio science investigation are unraveling the history and evolution of the Solar System's innermost planet.
